The third day of PLL Free agency saw more action than the second.
The impending faceoff rule will change how teams handle that position this season, so the first reaction to the new rule comes from the Boston Cannons. (New rule: no long poles at the faceoff spot, BTW please go back to the original PLL faceoff rules.) Boston has added faceoff-man Zac Tucci after he spent his first two seasons with the Waterdogs playing 5 games for them going an average 35.5% from the stripe. The Cannons and Waterdogs were the two teams that utilized the strategy of an LSM at the faceoff spot, instead of the traditional FOGO, the most last season. Now, the first domino has fallen from the new rule change.
Another young Waterdog has changed teams, 2-time NCAA champion, Chris Fake leaves Philly for Cali as he signs with the Redwoods who needed some reinforcements after the departure of Garret Epple in free agency to the Cannons. Fake only played one game for the Dawgs after winning the title with Notre Dame at the start of the summer. Fake who graduated from Notre Dame after 4 years with Yale where he won a championship as a freshman will add some Fighting Irish flavor to the 'Woods. It makes sense; the 'Woods lost Epple in free agency and the Dawgs defense is as strong as any in the league, so it will be tough to crack the lineup for Fake. The Redwoods also re-signed SSDM and team captain Isiah Davis-Allen. Davis-Allen has imbodied the style and physicality Coach Nat loves. Another former Redwoods departs for Carolina, someone make it make sense, Coach Towers has poached Kevin Rogers. Rogers never found his place with the Redwoods offense in his two games, the High Point graduate recorded just four points for 'Woods. Rogers played two and a half season with Chrome LC now the revitalized Denver Outlaws. During his time with Chrome, Rogers scored 18 points in 11 games. With such heavy Canadian flavor there's a large chance some Chaos players will be playing indoor summer lacrosse and the reinforcements have arrived for Coach Towers and the Chaos in the first three days of free agency. Seriously, Coach Towers what are ya doing to my Redwoods...?
Yesterday, Ronan Jacoby left the Archers to join the Atlas, today Reid Bowering follows in his foot steps. Bowering was a late addition to the champion Archers on the final game weekend of the season for an injured Connor Fields where the Canadian Bowering added a goal on 100% shooting. Now, Bowering will get to team up with fellow Canadian lefty Jeff Teat on the Atlas. The Atlas have struggled to find a lefty partner to pair with Teat, they tried Guterding, they tried O'Rouke, maybe third times the charm with Bowering.
What will day 4 have in store for both teams and players?
