Week 2 Of The PLL Season Hits The Carolinas

The Atlas roster looks similar to it's first two games last week in Albany. Dylan Molly stays in after being called up in the second game of the doubleheader. The man he replaced Connor Shellenberger returns, while Bryan Costible is out with an injury. The second win last weekend proved that the first win wasn't just an outlier. The Atlas look like a serious threat this season and I tend to agree with that thought. The defense was solid and dominant, but gave up some questionable 2-pointers that made the game against the Whipsnakes closer than necessary. The Atlas get the Carolina Chaos in their second game of the weekend. The major question this weekend, does Tim Troutner remain the starting goalie spot or does Coach Pressler give his star rookie goalie a chance in between the pipes?

After getting out to huge lead early, but getting hawked down late, the Archers were able to withstand the Waterdogs and hold on to win, but not without some late game heroics from Brett Dobson in cage. Two saves at the death are the only reasons the Archers aren't pulling into Carolina at 0-1. No changes on the offense, but one rookie replaces another. Colby Barsz, the Towson defenseman/LSM gets to make his pro debut near his hometown in Charlotte, North Carolina. This young Archers defense has a lot to learn, but what's the saying... "experience is the best teacher".

The Boston Cannons had a surprising loss in their opening game against the Atlas, this week they need to bounce back against a Whipsnakes team that probably feels the same way. The Cannons and Coach Holman have made some changes to the roster BOTH Aslanian brothers drop out and in their place steps in rookie midfielder Alexander Vardaro and faceoff speaclist Zac Tucci. The addition of Tucci means all PLL teams playing this weekend will have a dedicated faceoff man in quite some time. Does Tucci's addition address the major issue the Cannons faced last weekend. Still no Jake Pulver or Jack Kielty for the Cannons.

The PLL hits the Carolinas which means the Carolina Chaos have a double header this weekend. No changes to the roster even with the injury to Blaze last week. Austin Kaut will likely start in goal as Blaze is listed as doubtful on the injury report. Why fix it if it ain't broken, the Chaos won last week, can they go 2-0 this weekend and finish the first two weeks at 3-0? It will be a tall task for 'Aos boys.

Logan Wisnauskas is OUT and Dalton Young is in with Saam Olexo taking his place on the protected roster. No Wisnauskas means Brennan O'Neill starts at attack, right? Last week, Sean Sconone had a subpar performance in cage, but this week he's out with an injury so Owen McElroy likely gets the bump to starter as Matt Knote was added to the roster earlier this week. The Outlaws might count themselves lucky that Blaze left the game with an injury because the lost last week could have been worse. We don't live in coulda or shoulda, instead we live in reality and the reality is they're without their top goalie and one of their top offensive threats, it means everyone else needs to step up against a very good Archers team.

The Redwoods finally get to show what they can do since last week they were the only team to not make an appearance. The Redwoods did get to sit back and watch thier opponent last week so they know who to look for in their first game against the Chaos. Well, well, well they will be facing two former teammates in Jules and Sergio, I'm excited to see how those matchups pan out. No Chris Gray this week due to a personal matter, so what will we see from the Redwoods offense? The new look Redwoods defense must mesh and rally in front of Jack Kelly.

I bet you didn't have the Whipsnakes starting the first game off down 10-1 in the first half and you would not be alone in that thought. The Whipsnakes probably didn't think they would start like that either. Kyle Bernlohr was pulled from the game after making zero saves on six shots. It wasn't pretty. His replacement Brendan Krebs only went 47.4% in cage, the Atlas did a number on those two goalies. This week the Whips welcome back Joe Nardella, will his leadership and ability to score off the faceoff win be enough to boost the Whips to a win against another winless team? Only two points each from Zed and Rambo, need more from your best players.
