Thoughts, Facts, and Camp Position Battles (CPB)
No repeat names for the Bulls, the only team that can make that statement.
CPB Three goalies come to training camp for the Atlas. Jack Concannon has been added to Active Roster from the Injured Reserve, which means he will probably start in cage, so who makes it on the roster as the backup? Drake Porter saw some action in the PLL Sixes Championship in the winter, but JD Colarusso is back on his home turf at UAlbany and has previously played in regular season games for the Atlas.
CPB Atlas GM and Head Coach Mike Pressler surprised a few folks (not that surprising if you looked at his pre-college draft comments) by drafting both Gavin Adler and Brett Makar with the 1st and 3rd picks. The Atlas had a strong five pole lineup last season, so does one of the rookies break through to get a gameday roster spot? You would imagine they have good shot since they are such high draft picks.
CPB The Atlas attack and midfield lineup was so solid with the addition of NCAA men's lacrosse points leader and 2022 rookie Chris Gray (not happy about that btw) that Jake Carraway could barely get a roster spot, after he recoded 21 points in the 2021 season. The Atlas drafted Xander Dickson with the 11th pick in the 2023 college draft, who many call Eric Law 2.0. Does that mean he takes Eric Law's spot as the third attackman, or does he run out of the box like he did for some of his time at UVA.
The Atlas have a loaded SSDM room, currently Danny Logan and Payton Rezanka are on the PUP list, but you'd imagine at some point soon their status will change and when it does the question that remains is which SSDMs makes the roster and who's the odd man out when the music turns off.
